ACM Symposium on Applied Computing
SAC 2002
March 10 - 13, 2002,
Madrid, Spain

Over the past sixteen years, the ACM Symposium on Applied Computing has become a primary forum for applied computer scientists, computer engineers, software engineers, and application developers from around the world to interact and present their work. SAC 2001 is sponsored by the ACM Special Interest Group on Applied Computing (SIGAPP). Authors are invited to contribute original papers in all areas of experimental computing and application development for the technical sessions.

Track on

Standardisation in IT

Track chair: Kai Jakobs, Technical University of Aachen, Germany
http://www-i4.informatik.rwth-aachen.de/~jakobs/sac02/cfp.html

In the networked world of ours the terms 'information exchange', 'compatibility' and 'interoperability' have become ubiquitous. Yet, without underlying standards there would be no such thing as e.g., interoperability. Standards - in a broad sense of the word - govern the way information is formatted, transmitted, and represented. Accordingly, a better understanding of, for example, the processes that ultimately shape these standards, the driving technical, application and organisational requirements, and the economic consequences of the adoption of a particular standard are crucial. This track aims at contributing to a greater awareness of these, and other, problems and issues surrounding standardisation, and ideally, to suggest some solutions.

Instructions for Authors
Both short papers (around 1500 words) and full papers (around 4000 words) are solicited. A separate cover sheet should show the title of the paper, the author(s) name(s) and affiliation(s), and the full address (including e-mail, telephone, and FAX) of the contact author (in the case of electronic submission this should be sent separately from the main paper). To facilitate blind review the author(s) name(s) and address(es) must not appear in the body of the paper. Papers must not have been previously published, nor be currently submitted for journal publication.

Papers should be sent to the track chair, preferably as an e-mail attachment in PDF, to
Kai.Jakobs@i4.informatik.rwth-aachen.de

Only if electronic submission is not possible, please send 4 copies of the paper to
Kai Jakobs
